Woodlands
Easy country walks along woodland tracks, with birdsong and hedgerow flowers to enjoy make for a relaxing day out. Our closest woodland walk takes you to Fowley’s Falls, a beautiful, stepped waterfall.
Mountains
Strenuous hikes are rewarded with incredible views across the landscape. Our most famous mountain is Benbulben, the striking table top mountain that inspired WB Yeats.
Beaches
Long sandy beaches are dotted right along the Wild Atlantic coastline. Whether its surfing, swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, paddle boarding, or just a chilled-out day on the beach, we have the right beach for you just a short drive from the Lodge.
Loughs
Our nearest Lough is Lough Melvin just minutes away. Whether you are angling or kayaking, there are many free launch sites around the loughs and numerous uninhabited islets to explore.

Geology
The Lodge is just a stone’s throw from the UNESCO Cuilcagh Lakelands Global Geopark. This is the first transnational Geopark, straddling County Fermanagh, in Northern Ireland and County Cavan, in the Irish Republic. The Geopark is an internationally significant area of geological heritage in terms of conservation, education and sustainable tourism.
History
Learn about the prehistoric relict landscape, with its striking examples of Neolithic and early Bronze Age megalithic monuments. Or discover the stories of the Spanish Armadas; the English plantation (colonisation) of Ireland, and the 1916 Easter Rising.
Sustainability
The Organic Centre, set up in the 1970s, was ahead of it’s time for tackling the challenges that face Ireland today. Learn about organic growing, sustainable energy and biodiversity by visiting the Centre or attending one of its many courses. The Centre is just a 5-minute drive from the Lodge.
