Our favourite restaurant near Black Pig Lodge

The Courthouse Restaurant is located in the small village of Kinlough in County Leitrim. It is a 15 minute drive from Black Pig Lodge, a short drive along the very pretty Lough Road. This road takes you past The Organic Centre to reveal views right along the full length of Lough Melvin. Once in Kinlough you'll reach a T-junction and the restaurant is on the corner on your left. There is free parking on the road.
The restaurant changed hands in 2024, so we have been interested to see what changes the new owners would make to what was an already very successful restaurant known for its Anglo-Sardinian cuisine. Personally, I think I prefer the new menu. There are far more vegetarian and fish options, and the most interesting aspect of the menu, which we discovered the other night, is that you can, with friends, order a number of plates from the menu to share, a bit like a tapas.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed fine dining, in a light and airy space. I have always found the service to be very friendly and helpful, and they have a good selection of wines, beers and zero alcohol options.
